And some of you may not have heard this peak of human culture, but… just after Twitter purchase by Elon Musk got confirmed, a bunch of (serious) journalist put together a Twitter Space (a live audio streaming where any of the attendees can ask to participate) about what was going to happen next, and … @tumblr joined. And… they invited tumblr to speak. I can’t describe how much joy this moment brought me and how fucking proud made me of being part of our little entropy generator here:

i remember once talking about silly ideas i had for using camera flash capacitors as emergency self defence gadgets, and a friend who was really into martial arts very gravely told me,

“never wield a weapon that you’re not willing to have used against you”

and i scoffed like “lol i don’t care about moral shit like that if im backed into a dark alley by some bigots that wanna hurt me” and he snapped back,

“no you idiot, because your enemy can take it from you and use it on you! it’s why carrying a knife makes you more likely to get stabbed!”

and that’s sat with me for a long time. you can never control what weapons your aggressors might have, but if you carry a knife, you’re always vulnerable to being stabbed wherever you go. if you were an idiot geek thinking they’re cool and fucking carried overcharged capacitors with no safety limits on them, congratulations idiot, you just handed a fucking nightmare weapon to anyone that might wanna hurt you; when the most likely scenario you’d have gotten into otherwise was a beating by fists.
